I'm so done with this season. David Archuletta won this season about 4 weeks ago. But I guess I need to finish out my critiquing. Seriously, I'm more into Dancing With the Stars than AI. I at least want to watch Kristy Yamaguchi, where as with AI, I don't want to listen to anyone. Even Deadliest Catch is boring so far this season. Well, at least I have Lost.
David Cook singing Hungry Like the Wolf. Whoops, they forgot to mix in any of the music, so it's all his voice. And it's not all that good. Man, this mix is killing me. It's someone singing rock a cappella. Well, he didn't really do anything with it. And it wasn't all that great. Grade C+
Syesha singing Proud Mary. Dude, forget it. I'll tell you how this is gonna pan out. You'll want to hear Tina Turner's voice and you'll go, oh, yeah, Syesha ain't nowhere near Tina Turner. And... that's how it's turning out. This is SOO karaoke. This song separates the adults from the kids. Grade C+
Jason Castro singing I Shot the Sherriff. I don't know about this one. This song is just kinda goofy, and it's not gonna show off the aspect of his voice that makes him special. Man, whoever is mixing this is just killing me. It's all lead vocal. Well, that performance just came and went. Boring. Grade C.
David Archuletta who is gonna win this whole thing is singing Stand By Me. Now, this is a good choice. People love this song. Not only that, but it fits his voice great, and it's not a Disney song. I'm still not totally sold on his voice, it lacks a shine and luster. It's like I want to turn up the treble in his voice. Grade B
David Cook singing a Who song. I'm not sure about this one. Especially if they don't bother to mix in the music. Well, this song is starting out well - nice and soft and showing off his voice some. Oh, nevermind it's a bit rough. Now he's going up for the "Teenage Wasteland" part. It's still a bit rough. That arrangement totally sucked. It just went nowhere at the end. He went up into his upper register and it was decent. Grade B-
Syesha singing a Sam Cooke song. It's a ballad, which maybe she should do after the mess of the upbeat song. You know, her pitch is decent, at least I don't have that against her. But it's just like everything she sings just kinda passes without me noticing anything. Even her big notes. Grade B-
Jason Castro singing a Bob Dylan song, Mr. Tamborine Man. I like this choice. It's just him and his acoustic guitar. That's what we need to hear from him. He forgot the words and sang gibberish for the rest of the line, which I actually thought was funny. Oh, the song just ended. The arrangement of the song didn't really do anything. That doesn't help. Come on people, you need good endings to the songs. Grade C+
David Archuletta singing Love me Tender. Ballad guy does it for the second time - picking a song everyone knows. I don't understand why the other contestants don't get it. People want to hear songs they know. He's playing to his strengths - singing long notes where he can take it an mess around some. Grade B
