Sorry, I'm late again. Life is a bit busy for me. By the time I put this up, I already know that Ramiele got kicked off. I pretty much knew that she was venerable a bunch of weeks ago when she just picked lame song after lame song. She has the best voice out of the girls, but she just can't pick the songs. Unlike Brooke who is the exact opposite (for the most part), a mediocre singer picking songs that really work for her. On to the performances.
Brooke singing Jolene. This isn't all that great. The one good thing is that she seems really natural with her guitar and backed by a couple of musicians. There's nothing really going on though. Grade B-
David Cook singing Little Sparrow. He's slowing it down, which he needs to do. Showing off versatility. He needs to show off his voice, which is fairly decent, and not just go, "Hey, vote for the rocker guy." Well, the performance was okay, nothing great, but it rounded him out as a contestant. Grade B
Ramiele. Watch, it'll be another karaoke-ish song. And guess what? I'm right. Well she sounds good, but with a string of weak performances, this isn't gonna save her compared to what the other contestants have been doing. It was good, but so what, it was boring. Grade B-
Dreadlocks. This guy is so not the American Idol stereotype. He's totally an original in not only this season, but all seven seasons. Man, this guy is just so comfortable on stage. His performance is effortless. It's like it's his concert, not a competition. It was really nice. Grade B
Carly. You pretty know what to expect from her, an okay performance that doesn't totally nail it. She has a tough time switching her registers. Whenever she goes up, it's always a bit rough for a sec till she totally switches. Well, she did decently. A little boring, but it was okay. I wish the judges would stop talking her up, it's gonna hurt her. Grade B
David Archiletto. Watch, if it's a ballad, it'll be okay, if it's not it'll suck. It's a ballad. What is up with this guy, whenever he sings it sounds like a song from a Disney movie. It was decent, but I didn't like it. Grade B
Kristy Lee Cook. She's in a great spot right now. She's expected to do poorly, so if she does okay, then she's won the night. And that's what she's doing tonight, she's picked an okay song that doesn't need too much effort to sing, so her pitch is pretty good, she at least went up in the last five seconds of the song. Grade B-
Syesha singing I Will Always Love You. This is a really good choice for her, everyone knows this song, so she only has to not screw it up and it'll put her back on the map. It can be totally boring, but people love this song. And since no one knows any other Dolly Parton song, this'll save her for a week. The big notes were close enough for America. She just never quite got up to the note or sang it with ease, but close enough for votes. Grade B-
Michael Johns. This guy has been working with a vocal coach because he's just way better than he was a couple weeks ago. I don't know this song at all, but I'm paying attention. His voice is great. His tone and pitch are so natural now. It was great. Grade B+
