week synopsis so far. 5.25 on Monday. 5.45 on Tuesday. Wednesday morning I went out, knowing I wouldn't be able to run on Thursday. I got down to the trail (via running) and it's like my body just shut down. So as much as I didn't want to stop, I did. Instead, Wednesday night my friend and I took a leisurely bike ride.

IT IS HOT HERE. And I hate running in the heat. So i woke up at 5:30 this morning, hoping to beat some of it, and I think i did. My temp thing on my computer says it's 56 degrees right now, but I swear it's way warmer. Although, down in the wooded, creek-ed trail it was about ten degrees cooler. Still- I was super hot.

I ran a 5K after work today and placed 1st in my age group (with an 18:29!)... And 2nd overall, by like 6 seconds!! The dude passed me at the final stretch... So I'm a bit bummed I didn't win, but I got a $25 gift card to Friday's nonetheless... [Big Grin]

Yeah... Even I don't really like running in the Army.

They're just so good at sucking all the fun out of it.

I only ran three times this week... But this morning (more like, just a few minutes ago) I ran my arduous 10M route through four towns (with the crazy [for Jersey] hills)... So I think I'm all caught up now.

lower case 'm' is the abbreviation for meter.
however, M, is not widely accepted as an abbreviation for mile.
In the United States, the National Institute of Standards and Technology now uses and recommends 'mi'.

Well... Miss (Oh, I mean "Mrs." [Smile] ) Kado... Amongst the dorky running community, "M" or "K" is pretty much standard.

Outside of that... Well... I wouldn't know since I only use it for running discussions. [Smile]

man. i'm in mexico, and on the weekdays, to be able to fit in a decent length run I have to get up at 5am. This morning the alarm went off at 5 and i laid there until 5:20. guhhhh. i'm tahrd.

also, I've been really, really slow on my runs, which is kinda sad. I really don't know why, since I'm running at the same, or lower, elevation as home, the same distance, etc. I think it's just a nutrition/hydration thing or that I'm just so tired when I get up in the morning. Who knows. I'm trying to knock off fifteen seconds each morning from the same distance and have so far been successfully (this morning. ha!) so I think I'm just going to run the same distance for a few days until I knock it back down again.

I just got back from my first Montclair Run 10K, in the lovely town of the same name just north of here.

It was hot, muggy, and hilly... But somehow I managed to place 1st in my age group and take home a medal!

The official results aren't posted yet (They'll come, along with pictures), but I believe I finished in 40:57.

Time to shower now.

Ah, that sucks... But eh, we all have "sucky runs". No shame in that. [Smile]

Fortunately for me though, this morning didn't bring out one of mine. The official results posted not too long ago, and I ended up placing 15th out of a total of 552 runners.

Here's a few shots of me at the awards ceremony afterwards:

 -

(shortly after receiving my medal)

 -

(with other age group winners in my running club)

 -

(with my buddy Paul... They call us the "Essex young bloods", since we're the only two members of the club under 30 [so far])

I just got done remedying an excruciatingly boring day of work with a short, all-out fast run around the park down the street.

I wasn't pushing as hard as I could... But I was definitely aiming to add something fast-paced to the day... So I just did a mile and a half.

Sweet. I really like that town.

If you live anywhere near Edgemont Park, then you could've seen me on my way to losing to the 1st place female yesterday.

I went running late this afternoon... When the heat index was a *wonderful* 99∘with the humidity...

I wouldn't advise it normally... But since I only did a mile and a half, I figured "eh, I can make it".

Yeah... It was hell.

ewwwww.

I ran on the beach on saturday which was a first for me. Still not sure how i felt about that.

Then ran 4 yesterday.

Today I helped at a house build site, hauling some concrete blocks, carrying kids around, doing stucco, so I figured that was a good cross training [Wink]

I'm up early tomorrow and at it again! My mom suggested carrying rocks in my hands to throw at scary dogs. I might do that.

I started http://correchicacorre.blogspot.com mostly for myself.

Hah... Rocks for dogs. Nice.

I guess if you don't end up throwing them at rabid canines, it'll just be that much more of a workout, eh?

I completely skipped out on the running today... Sorry, it's just too freaking hot.

But the good news is, this torrential thunderstorm we've got going on right now is supposed to bring temperatures in the upper 60's tomorrow morning.

Finally!
