I really need to find some new hard rocking bands. I really dig Torche and the stoner rock stuff.
That's supposedly the case, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Things like, "an epic Danny Elfman intro complete with operatic soprano vocals and four-part harmony," and, "a track of just sitar and tambura and Tablas," don't really count to me. Sure, they're experimenting, but they're using it on tracks that aren't really the meat of the music and they're not integrating it into the sound in general. It's much the same way that I wasn't impressed by that really long piano interlude in that track on their first album.
The 1/3...is bored and cynical when it comes to metal.

Yep, that's how I found out about Buried Beds, too (except I saw them in Chicago). They were very nice people when I met them at the merch table, and I was so impressed with their set (I even enjoyed them more than mewithoutYou) that I bought both their albums. Their first one wasn't very good at all, but Tremble the Sails is WONDERFUL. I'd say it's one of the best of 2010 (if it was released in 2010, and I'm pretty sure it was).
