Dear Conrad -- Lately I have been feeling like I don't really have a personal relationship with Christ...I don't know what it is really. I mean I go to church, bible studies and I worship. I know that this alone doesn't mean much but I also believe that Jesus Christ die for our sins and that God loves us so much that he allowed this. However most of the time when I'm at church or at a youth thing I just don't feel like I have the Holy Spirit within me. Sometimes I think maybe my heart has been harden but hate for someone that I have tried to forgive that I just can't feel the Holy Spirit anymore. Other times I feel like I lost the Holy Spirit completely. I don't know what to do.... please help.
Fortunately for us as believers we can know certain things even if we do not feel them inside.
If God has made a promise, we don’t even have to believe it for it to come true. What God has said – becomes fact.
And this is what God says about the presence of the Holy Spirit with believers…
1CO 3:16 Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?
According to this verse (and a ton of others), the Holy Spirit dwells within all believers. This means that even though sometimes you don’t ‘feel’ the presence of the Holy Spirit – it is still there with you.
As humans we are driven by feelings. Sometimes our feelings are swayed by sin and Satan. God knowing this, has given us the solid Word of God as a rock to steady our swaying feelings. If you can’t ‘feel’ the Holy Spirit, turn to verses like 1 Cor 3:16 and read it. Let God’s words sink into your head and with his help, it will sink into your heart as well.
As a believer, the Holy Spirit is with you. And because we are sinful, we don’t always feel it. But we can know it.
