108 is in fact one of the most passionate bands you will ever hear. 108 started in 1991 and played it's "last" show at CBGB's in 1996. It's been ten years but their impact and influence has not stopped growing. They are now back together and have recorded some new material and have decided to start touring again. 108 is by far the best Hare Krishna hardcore bands to ever grace the stage. During the early 1990's Krishna-core was an up and coming sub genre of hardcore but it quickly died out as fast as it came to the top. It featured bands like 108, Shelter, The Cro-Mags and recently Never Surrender.
108 released some of the best hardcore albums of the 1990's. Creation. Sustenance. Destruction. is the complete 108 discography. It contains Holy Name, Songs Of Separation, Threefold Misery, Curse Of Instinct and an unreleased song called Panic. There are many things that separate 108 from mostly all other hardcore acts. They had conviction that was unmatched. They showed their passion in the studio as well as on stage that couldn't be touched. Vic DiCara's lyrics were never void of substance. He seemed to be always trying to tackle some sort of issue in each of his songs. To sum up the band in one word would be call them "intense". Their influences stretches far and wide within hardcore as well as the off shots (screamo and metal-core)
Creation. Sustenance. Destruction. is quite possibly one of the best hardcore discographies you could ever own. It gives the whole history of the band and goes more into depth than I ever could on this silly review. This album is truly a gem and an eye opener to anyone who has never heard 108. It may even open your eyes to other beliefs and convictions.
