"In the recent weeks things have been quite crazy around here and I am happy to say that things are finally getting back on track. As many of you know Shawn and Josh Q quit the band a few weeks ago and unfortunately we, as a band, were not able to follow through with the tour commitments we had made. Jon and I had decided to continue on with The Beautiful Mistake but recently he chose to move back home due to some family issues and not continue on with the band. Bands and relationships are a complex issue and I am sure that any of you who have been in bands or toured know what I am talking about. I also know that many of you who have become our close friends know that it isn't as easy as it looks and many times things, relationship wise, become strained or just not fun anymore. Things have been hard for all of us in the recent weeks and I hope that Shawn, Josh Q and Jon all feel a lot more peace now within their lives. I respect their decisions to move on and I also wish them the best in whatever they pursue. The only other bad news in all of this is that we will NOT be able to play on the Vans Warped Tour this summer. We have never been a band that cancels shows or flakes out on committments but there is nothing we can do right now. We WILL make it up to all of you and be back out on tour later this year. Now that brings me to the question "what's next for The Beautiful Mistake?"
Here's what's next: I am proud to announce 2 new members to The Beautiful Mistake family. Rusty Fuller(formerly of Copeland) is our new drummer and Caleb Nasen is our new lead guitarist. I understand they have big shoes to fill but one couldn't ask for better people and I feel quite blessed to be able to make music with these guys. Now that brings me to what we still need. We need a bassist and if you are interested in being a part of The Beautiful Mistake you may email us at bassist@thebeautifulmistake.com but please keep in mind what we are looking for before you email us. These are the tangible things we are looking for:
-have tour ready gear (ie. 8x10 cab, mesa or ampeg heads etc)
-play with a pic and be solid with your playing. no Rush bassists.
-like our music, especially our new cd, "this is who you are"
-are into these bands and more: snapcase, quicksand, U2, hum, cave-in etc.
-must live in or near San Diego, California.
-must be willing to tour
-must be able to scream hardcore style while playing bass. why? because we
still want to play old songs live.
If you meet these please email us and if we are interested we will email you back. once again the email address is :
bassist@thebeautifulmistake.com
Finally, once the bass position is filled we have been asked to record a song for an upcoming Failure tribute cd so we will be hitting the studio for that as well as recording a new song with the new members to let people know we are still around and still want to rock. I personally want to thank all of you who have supported us from the beginning and have continued to support us regardless of members coming and going. I know this is a time of transition but I appreciate all of you being patient with us and emailing us encouraging words. The Beautiful Mistake WILL
continue on and we will be playing in a town near you soon. Thanks again for listening to us and supporting us.
