This is metal core. No, I am not talking about the hardcore that is fused with metal that has horrible breakdowns and mosh parts all over the place. This is metal that is fused with pieces of hardcore. This is what real metal core should be. I was a bit surprised to see this album on ALONE RECORDS. Alone Records has been known for their emo/screamo acts and really haven't stretched their arms into the world of metal too much.
Burial Year has the ability to reach out to the mosh hungry kids as well as those beloved long haired metal kids. They have a vague resemblance to Coalesce in their appeal. Burial Year rose from the ashes of Takaru, who were also on Alone and I loved them. If you are familiar with them, basically take the Takaru sound and add more metal into it and take away some hardcore and you would have Burial Year. If you are into metal or brutal hardcore, you will probably love this album!
