A year or so ago, I reviewed Killing The Dream self titled album. I thought that it had some promise and was very reminiscent of American Nightmare. It was very East Coast sounding even thought it's from California. It was good but nothing all that amazing. A year can change a lot for a band and it's sound.
In Place Apart if a more mature and more original sound that the band didn't achieve in the past. Although it has the same aggression from the past, they have really grasp their very own sound. They have become more melodic and at the same time have added a small amount of pop to their sound. I wouldn't say that they have stretched out into anything new but they have just polished what they had made before. They seem to be a lot more passionate about their sound than before and that is always a plus. It would still give the American Nightmare fans something hold onto but also bring in fans of such bands as Cast Aside, Right Brigade and Chain Of Strength
