I miss just straight up honest hardcore. No off beat metal tantrums and no high pitched or even low pitched scensters singing about their girlfriends...just straight up-hitting you with a hammer in the back of the head-old school hardcore. It has been so long since I have heard a NEW band do that. You still have the Blood for Blood's and Slapshot's but why can't there be a new band like that? There is. Rag Men. One of the newest and best bands on the Eulogy family. This band is the closest and the furthest thing you can get to the definition of "new". This "all-star" cast takes it back a few steps and shows the young pups in the scene how it is done. Jorge from Merauder, Mitts from Skarhead, Ian "Bulldog" from Earth Crisis and Rig Ross from Hatebreed all join forces to get it done the right way. While forging a new path down an old road they do not forget their roots with mixing their influences over the years of punk, rock and metal but they still stay true to the hardcore sound. I was extremely surprised with their maturity and their openness to dive into their emotions and spiritual lives. This is a great hardcore album and should be checkout by everyone who not only like the bands these members have been in but also all those old school kids looking for something new. I can totally see myself getting down with these guys back in the day at an sunday afternoon show at CBGB's. That's what they are. That's what they inspire.
