The following is a teeny tiny little e-mail interview I did with Jason Martin of Starflyer 59 -- the greatest band in existence today.  They are currently working on a new album, and I (selfishly) wanted to know a little bit more about it.  Luckily he wanted us all to know more about it too.

Here are his seven brief answers to my seven brief questions......

 
1. Have you begun recording the new album yet?

JASON - We started about 2 weeks ago, it is currently going really slow...not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

2. Have you decided on a name for it yet? 

JASON - The working title as of now, THE TALKING VOICE VS. THE SINGING VOICE....

3. What should we expect to hear on the album in terms of style?

JASON - Something smooth, something that hopefully sounds like us.

4. Has a release date been set?

JASON - It should be out in early '05.

5. Will there be a tour?  And will you come to Minnesota, pleeease??

JASON - We should be out in that area in November with Pedro the Lion.

6. Any news on the "side projects" front?  I bought Frank Lenz's solo EP at Cornerstone, and I think I've fallen in love.

JASON - Not that I know of at the moment....but ya I agree, Frank's solo stuff is really good.

7. What are you all listening to nowadays?

JASON - Pretty much just our new record.  It's all the music I have time for at the moment......I know that sounds bad!
