I used to be a huge Rancid fan back in the day. I still listening to Rancid but I really lost interest after
...And Out Comes The Wolves. I missed the straight up punk that the band would pay and I really haven't found any band to take their place or even step up to the plate. I guess the common conclusion would be that who would really want to be another Rancid. I can understand that but how many bands out there do a good job of mirroring their hero's? Now comes along a new punk band from California that has taken off right where Rancid changed their sound from punk to reggae/punk.
Time Again is Rancid Jr. It's not a bad thing. It's actually quite enjoyable. The vocals even take a stab at Tim Armstrong's slurring ability. I always found Rancid as the story tellers of punk rock. Time Again also does a great job of telling their own stories. I guess you could tell by the title of their album that they had a path they wanted to go down.
Time Again makes me want to grow another mohawk and break out my bondage pants and find my way to the nearest circle pit. I really enjoy it. It's very nostalgic and brings back a lot of amazing memories. File under classic Epitaph punk rock. Oh where have you been? Epitaph's sister label, Hellcat had to pick up the torch where Epitaph has seemed to drop it just about completely. Play it fast. Play it loud. Just play it!
