To some, the hardcore straight edge lifestyle is just a passing phase. To some, it's something that was claimed but fell to the way side. To some, it's ridiculous. To some, it's just something to do to fit in. But to some, it's a lifelong creed. This is where you would put Triple Threat's front man, Tim McMahon. Tim fronted some amazing bands since his teenage years up until now. He fronted Mouthpiece, one of the most famous hardcore bands of the youth crew movement of the 1990's. After Mouthpiece, he went onto form Hands Tied and Face The Enemy. Since 2004, Tim has been working on Triple Threat. He teamed up with Ed McKirdy, who was also with Tim in Hands Tied and Face The Enemy. He also was in the hardcore super group The Killing Flame which had past members of Ignite, Uniform Choice, Unity, No For An Answer, Speak 714 and others.
Triple Threat combines so many influences that it's impossible to pin point them all. You'll hear everything from Black Flag, Mouthpiece, Youth Of Today, Insted and Danzig. Overall, the album isn't the greatest thing you'll hear this year in hardcore but if you are a Tim McMahon (or any of his past bands) fan it is a necessity. At times it's boring but it's still a pretty solid hardcore album. I would take this album over 90% of the music out there today. I seriously could never bash a guy like Tim McMahon (I love Mouthpiece) and the fact that he sports a Danzig T shirt and loves the Philadelphia Eagles makes him even more likeable.
