From K Records:
Saturday Looks Good To Me is pleased to announce the completion of our new
album and a forthcoming North American tour.
The new record "Fill Up The Room" will be released on K Records September
11, 2007. This is our fourth full-length, preceded most recently by 2004's
"Every Night" on Polyvinyl and our singles and rarities collection "Sound
On Sound", released by Redder Records last year.
We're beyond thrilled to be working with K, a label all of us have loved
and admired since our high school days. "Fill Up The Room" (also to be
known as "Love & Death" if you like) represents an expansion in sound and
lyrical ideas for the band, moving away from 60's girl group mimicry, and
trying to build a new wall of sound from our own collective consciousness.
The songs, though still pure pop at the core, incorporate stretched-out
jams, samples, drum circle breakdowns, huge and sporadic many-voiced
braying choruses and elements of tape collage and musique concrete. The
record also steps away from our older material in terms of subject matter,
leaving behind heartbroken laments to investigate themes of the afterlife,
women inventors and scientists, the physical breakdown of the human body
in relation to artistic freedom and many other universal cycles. We can
say without a doubt that it's our most honest and spiritually reaching
work to date, and we're really excited to share it with the world.
The band is heading to South By Southwest, and touring North America on
the way to and from. With the recent west coast move of bandleader Fred
Thomas, the membership of SLGTM is now scattered far and wide, so we're
concentrating on a brilliant presentation of our live shows, since now the
only time we can get together is for tours.
European tour dates are currently being booked for late April and all of
May, to be announced soon. These branches of touring coincide with the
band's release of a tour-only one-sided LP of exclusive new material
called "Green Mansions". Pressed in an edition of 250 copies, "Green
Mansions" will only be available at the shows and through the band's
website and Myspace page.
Longtime fans of the 7" single, tour-only CDR, mix tape remix, exclusive
mp3 and what have you, "Green Mansions" is one of many little
mini-releases in the works between now and the release of "Fill Up The
Room", including an as-of-yet untitled EP on Polyvinyl Records to be
released around the same time as the new record on K.
