Oh, and the new U.S. home kits looked pretty good. Only the numbers on the back are kind of light and hard to see. It was kind of confusing with both teams wearing the same colors. I had to remind myself sometimes that Scotland was wearing blue shirts and white shorts and the Americans had the stripes. The stripes just seemed more European to me.
Glad you had fun on your road trip there. Just took one kid?

Yeah, took our middle guy, who's the soccer player anyway. Youngest one was too little for the trip, and oldest had no interest in going, so he stayed home and played babysitter.

I'm honestly not much of a fan of the Waldo kits, but they're slowly growing on me. Not in a "I'm dying to own one" way, but still, they're slowly winning me over. Plus, they're void of the pageant sash, which is a definite plus.

The best kit was the navy w/ the grey sash, or the red w/ the navy sash. Now our kits look like FC Dallas.

Speaking of Hoops, I just got a pre-sale offer for tix to see Celtic play Real Madrid in Philly in August...and my wife wants to go. I'm freaking PUMPED!

Niiiiice. I don't think any European team will be coming to FL for preseason. I don't blame them. It's freakin' hot here in July.

Actually, let me correct that, none of the teams I want to see are coming to FL. Stoke City plays Orlando city the same day Chelsea and A.C. Milan play in Miami. Pshh...Miami. Even hotter there than here.

I'd make that trip. That's a good match Darla. I wish I could afford to go to Vegas to see the Real Juve match.

Yeah, it actually is a good match. It's about a 4 hour drive from here. I just don't care for Miami. I don't know if I can convince my brother or sister to go with me. I might talk them into the Orlando City v. Stoke City game. We saw Newcastle play there last year. Poor England players who have to play in Miami during the summer. They might melt! Or there could be a hurricane...we've already had two named storms this year and it's not even hurricane season.
With the Euro's I wonder how many of the top players will be coming on the preseason tours.

Villa two or three years ago would have been an awesome team to see!

Pre sale for the Celtic/Real Madrid game begins today. I got the code, yo! I'll be buying my tix in about 30 minutes. I can not WAIT to go see this game. I'm sure the Spanish will outnumber the Paddys 10 to 1, but it'll be fun all the same.

Hope you get good seats Andy!
And Aston Villa this year...meh. What happened to Liverpool's tour? How about that new manager they hired? Poor Swansea...he was good for them.

Two things:
1) We had Manchester United last year. Great match, even though I despise MUFC, and
2) Andrew Hauptman, our owner, is a jag. We're lucky we've got AVFC this year. Waiting to see what the 2nd friendly's gonna be.

I really, REALLY wanted to go to Philly for the Chelsea v. MLS All Stars game. Broke as a joke though. Ugh.

Liverpool's summer tour is Toronto, Boston, and Baltimore. Toronto is the closest, but I don't have a passport. I had heard rumors there was going to be a Chicago stop, but it didn't happen. But the Baltimore fixture is only five days before their first Europa League match.

I'm excited about the new manager. He did a lot with Swansea.

I'm not even gonna try! That game is gonna sell out in 2 minutes. Why is the All Star Game, against the CL champions (although it wasn't known when it was booked) at a 19k seat stadium? I love PPL...but its too small.

Wow, yeah that is a small stadium to have a game that big at.
I'm on summer furlough so I'll have plenty of time to watch the Euro's this summer. heh. If my evil cable box/dvr will cooperate. I swear it hates international games. It hasn't recorded several I've set to record before. Including yesterday's England v. Belgium game. Had to watch it later that night.

They need to move it to a bigger stadium. Then again, when Chelsea played MLS All Stars in 2006, it was played at Toyota Park, which seats 20k, so....

Anyone catch that snorefest of a US/Canada match tonight? What an utter waste of 2 hours. Also, Mexico blanked Brazil 2-0. Didn't see that match, heard it was good though.

Yeah, I watched the US/Canada game. It was rather uneventful. I was knitting a baby blanket during the game so it wasn't a complete waste of time for me! (yes, I can knit and watch a game, I'm a woman. I multitask)

Yeah, definitely uneventful. US didn't look very good, which was a letdown. Was hoping to see some exciting things with Dempsey starting. DeRo was far more fun to watch. That guys is just such a dynamic soccer player.

Euros start tomorrow! Who are you rooting for and who will win?

I rooting for Poland due to their Dortmund connection. I'm thinking they'll make it out of the group and a surprise trip to the semis would be the max.

But I think Spain will take it. So much talent, and 95% possession, 90% for Xavi alone.

Yeah for Euros!
I don't really know too much about the teams in group A, so sure Poland might make it through.
Spain might take all. Right now I'm thinking a World Cup final replay would be interesting...Spain vs. Netherlands. Or maybe Germany in there. We'll see.
I don't really have a team that I want for sure to win. I do hope Ireland can kick some butt in their group, but they probably won't make it out.
Unfortunately, I don't think Italy and France will choke like they did in the World Cup. Although, maybe Italy will somewhat. Maybe Balotelli will act up. heh.
Oh, and the U.S. better do some damage tonight in the World Cup qualifiers!

Ireland first, Deutschland second. Lord have mercy on my household if Ireland plays Deutschland...."til death do us part, or until Ireland plans Germany in a major tournament"

Eff the Spanish. While we're at it, eff the Italians too. Throw the Frenchies in the eff pot for good measure.

I've got Germany facing Netherlands in the final, although Denmark took it to Netherlands today. I think Greece goes through, and Spain's done. Their run is going to be exponentially tougher without David Villa and Puyol. Plus they no longer have the youth that Germany has.

I think this is the first year Germany's really hitting their stride in international play with this current lineup. They went undefeated in qualifying play, and looked really solid (especially defensively) against Portugal today.

Plus, Ronaldo suffered today, which I always enjoy.

I'm also trying to work it so that I can view an upcoming Germany game with Arne Friedrich. I've become friends with one of the Fire guys, and he lives in the same building as Arne. If it happens, I'll have to fight everything in me to not go into total homer-fan mode.

Can the Netherlands actually get any shots on goal? geesh. They need to get it together.
I'm with you Jeff on the Ronaldo part...he didn't get too many touches in and I was rather happy about that too. Now, I just don't know who else will make it in that group though! I'm pretty sure Germany will but dunno about the other three.
I kind of want Spain and Italy to draw tomorrow just so the other two teams have more of a shot at it, especially Ireland. But I'd rather Italy lose if someone has to.
I'm just a little sad my sister can't come and watch the games with me 'cause she's too busy for school...until the quarters that is.

My poor Dutch (I decided I should root for them since I'm mostly Dutch and I went for them in the World Cup). I really wanted everyone in that group to go into the last game level on points. Then it really would have been the group of death! It will take a miracle for them to make it through. Maybe it will help some of their egos if they don't make it. Maybe not. Germany is looking good though so I'll just continue to root for them. I don't mind them winning over the rest of the competition.
We'll see how Spain looks tomorrow and the rest of their group. I'm hoping Croatia can hold up against Italy and the Irish don't get slaughtered...again.

I'm genuinely shocked over today's Germany/Netherlands match. I figured Germany would be lucky to get out with a draw.

I'm confident Croatia can hold up and at least get a draw against Italy. Italy plays notoriously underwhelming football. They could've taken Spain IMO, but they played for a draw instead. Croatia could pull an upset ala Denmark over the Dutch, which would be amazing.
