Hello people. I used to frequent this board/website from the very late 90s to the mid 00s. I should be working, so I'll try to keep this short.
My girlfriend bought me tickets to see FIF at Soul Fest. Today during lunch I started thinking about it, which lead to thinking about all the other stuff I used to do, which led to looking at what other bands/festivals were still around. I checked cornerstone's page, which has really changed btw, and saw that SQUAD FIVE-O is playing! I searched the Internets for news, but found nothing. Then I remembered that Decapolis was my go to place for reliable news back in the day.
I'm hoping someone has some info on this. I have no chance of going to Cornerstone but I really want to see Squad. Best effing live band back in the day. I'm just hoping there's a chance they'll be playing Soul Fest or maybe some touring.

no clue. I see Jeff every once and a while at walmart or the mall. If I bump into him, I'll ask. Not sure why they're doing this though. The fest isn't the same and the current music crowd won't appreciate it.

those aren't very good reasons to not get your band back together. especially if you loved it like he seemed to (not that i claim to know the dude at all, he just always seemed pretty enthused about it)

Via Jeff's Facebook statuses, the implication is that he wanted to reunite the band for a final "farewell" show, so to speak. Squad broke up without any type of official declaration or final show. This makes up for that, I guess. There is zero indication that there will be any touring or recording. It's assumed to be a one-time event.
I'm not exactly sure how they are gonna pull it off, though. Granted, the current C-stoners will not appreciate it or care. I guess they are hoping that hundreds of old fans will come out specifically for them (I definitely plan to!) But also, I dunno which band members will be participating. Jeff and John are certain, but Kris Klein has said on Facebook that he cannot make it due to "scheduling conflicts". Jeff posted that Justin Garbinksi was confirmed for drums, which makes me wonder if Dave or Adam will be participating? That's all the news that has been released.
I'm sure it will be great, even for nostalgic reasons. But, part of Squad's great show was Kris' guitar work - it certainly won't be the same without him!
But yeah, it just seems like the wrong place to do a reunion show at ( maybe not the wrong place, but certainly the wrong time ). I could be wrong, and a part of me hopes to be wrong, but judging by the people I know who have gone to Cornerstone since 2008 and the music they listen to, I don't know how accepting people will be to Squad with open arms or ( as everyone has pointed out ) will care. It would definitely be nostalgic for me. Squad used to play OKC every weekend it seemed around the 1996-1998 period. It's rare to see any out of state obscure band come through OKC at least once every two years.

If you go to the Cornerstone site and look at the schedule it looks like the Tooth and Nail webmaster is doing the Cornerstone site. See if it doesn't look just like the roster page on Tooth and Nail's site.

Oh man. I still remember Squad's shows. The first time I saw them was when they were on tour with Juliana Theory in Spring of 2001. (Yes, my brother and I were there to see the Juliana Theory), and then I saw them play Cornerstone (twice) in 2002. Awesome shows, all.
